In the 39th episode of TC Show Off, a weekly initiative that provides startups a platform to showcase their businesses, hyperlocal startup Jugnoo’s vice president Varun Mittal talks about how his company’s apps are mitigating commodity-related needs and solving transportation woes of the common man.
“If someone is looking for a delivery platform, Jugnoo is ideal for them. We are like a marketplace which provides everything on demand. Our advantage is that we have autos unlike our other competitors, besides bikers to deliver our products,” Mittal told Techcircle.
The Chandigarh-based Jugnoo provides three different apps. First is Jugnoo fatafat, a hyperlocal market place which provides home delivery within a particular city. It supports in sourcing groceries and deals with farm fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy products, cakes, flowers and custom-made orders.
The second is Jugnoo meals, an on-demand food ordering app which allows customers to order freshly cooked home-made food at pocket friendly prices. Jugnoo autos, the third app, connects passengers with auto drivers.
Jugnoo, which was launched in November last year, has 200,000 registered users across Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jaipur. It completes 2,600 transactions a day. The company is planning to launch their service in Delhi NCR this month. It has also introduced logistics wallet and check systems to get orders from clients.
“We take commission ranging from 5-25 per cent depending on the size of the items ordered. For example, on an order of Rs 300, we earn Rs 45. Our delivery cost is 60. However, we are planning to bring it down,” said Mittal.
He claimed that the company has not started utilising the Rs 32 crore ($5 million) capital recently raised from Snow Leopard Ventures and Paytm .
It had previously raised angel funding from a group of investors including Rakesh Mathur, founder of Amazon-acquired Junglee. Mathur current serves as CEO of San Francisco-based Flywheel.
