HealthQuad ropes in ex-W Health Ventures exec to deepen AI, health-tech strategy
Namit Chugh, director, HealthQuad

Private-equity firm Quadria Capital, which recently rolled out its third healthcare-focused venture-capital vehicle after a split with Belgian impact investor KOIS Invest, has appointed a former W Health Ventures executive to strengthen the $300 million fund's health-tech investment strategy.

Quadria said on Monday that it has named Namit Chugh as director at HealthQuad, as part of the Asia-focused PE firm's plans to broaden its investment strategy with deep-tech or AI, and tech-enabled healthcare models.

The appointment comes more than a month after the PE firm in June launched HealthQuad III to raise as much as $300 million (around Rs 2,627 crore) which includes a $100 million greenshoe option, following a split with KOIS, which floated a separate VC fund called HealthKOIS of a similar target corpus to invest in healthcare startups. Quadria also named Rahul Agarwal as partner at HealthQuad few days later.

Chugh, a former principal at W Health Ventures, will focus on spotting "high-impact" growth ventures across deep-tech and tech-enabled healthcare models. He will also strengthen HealthQuad's founder engagement, and drive thematic investment strategies across the fund’s core focus areas, Quadria said in a statement.

He joins the fund following his four year stint at the healthcare-focused early-stage VC firm W Health, where he was part of the founding team since its inception. At W Health, Chugh played an important role in the fund's India and India–US investment strategy and led key investments in mental health app Wysa, digital diabetes care firm BeatO, and (parenting-focused content platform Mylo. He also helped the VC firm conceptualize the venture studio 2070 Health where he backed tech-enabled companies at seed stage, setting it up as seed to venture healthtech platform.

Prior to W Health, Chugh was part of the investment team at India-focused impact investor Lok Capital, where he executed and exited investments across healthcare, consumer-tech, and insurtech including Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Center, Renewbuy, and others.

A management graduate from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Chugh has previously worked with consulting firms such as Alvarez & Marsal and PwC.

"Namit brings fresh perspectives, deep sector insight, and a sharp founder-first mindset, qualities that will further strengthen our approach to identifying and nurturing the next wave of healthcare disruptors in India," said Amit Varma, co-founder of HealthQuad.

Chugh's appointment will help HealthQuad scale up its investment focus across high-growth areas including healthtech, medtech, biopharma, and digitally enabled care models.
