On-demand legal services provider HiGrit Services Pvt. Ltd has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from two Chandigarh-based investors, the startup’s co-founder said.

Ashish Bais told VCCircle that the startup, also based in Chandigarh, secured the funds from Ashish Mahajan and Sarvesh Sharma, co-owners of web design company Osvin Web Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The startup provides legal services to startups, entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses and professionals through its online platform. Users also have the option to post their query and get it answered by a team of about 100 lawyers. It charges a commission of about 40% on the professional fee.

The firm plans to use the funds for product development. It is planning to launch an Android app by the end of July and start a calling facility for instant legal consultation.

Another online legal services platform that recently raised funding is Legal Raasta Technologies Pvt Ltd, which secured $1 million (around Rs 6.7 crore) in angel funding from affluent individuals Pravin Khandelwal and Yatin Kumar Jain in April.

HiGrit was founded last month by Bais and Manish Singh. Bais has a post-graduate degree in information systems from Illinois State University in the US. He earlier co-founded logistics startup TruckPaPa along with Singh, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur who previously worked at Amazon.

Bais said they plan to sell TruckPaPa and focus on the new business. “The venture helped us understand the dynamics of the e-commerce business but we realised that the truck aggregation market is not ready for disruption,” he added.
