GoAhead Software Inc, a Bellevue-based company engaged in the development of embedded middleware software, has acquired Avantellis Middleware, a group firm of Emerson Network Power India, for an undisclosed sum. Emerson Network is a diversified global manufacturing and technology company in Mumbai.
GoAhead is a venture capital-backed company and has so far raised over $40 million from a group of investors including Columbia Capital, Cedar Grove Investments, Intel Capital and Voyager Capital, said a company statement. The company has operations in the US and India.
GoAhead offers integrated middleware solutions for telecom, military, and aerospace equipment manufacturers. The solutions include system management that helps in resource discovery, alarm management, and integration of the resources with vendor-specific systems. It provides software for various development projects such as wireless base station controllers, industrial controllers and defense applications. It also has a strategic alliance with SteelCloud, Inc, a network centric and embedded computing solutions provider.
“The acquisition of Avantellis creates an unmatched level of capability at GoAhead and enables us to continue our tradition of world class expertise in delivering standards-based software solutions,” Asif Naseem, president and COO of GoAhead Software, said, in the statement.
Some of its clients include Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, US Navy and LG-Nortel. Early this year, the firm has acquired EmbeddedMIND, an innovative management infrastructure solution business of Silicon & Software Systems Ltd (S3).
The company is also shifting its business model and technology strategy from its proprietary SAFfire product to an open source software model. It plans to add a new integrated development environment (IDE), diagnostic tools, and other services around its various software offerings, a move, it believes, that will help it offer cutting edge technology in telecommunications, media, aerospace and defense space.
