Indian Entrepreneurs Need To Think Big: Cognizant Vice-chairman

15 May, 2012

Indians probably represent one of the most entrepreneurial societies in the world today. However, there is still room for improvement, feel a few. And according to Lakshmi Narayanan, vice-chairman and ex-CEO of Cognizant Technology Solutions, entrepreneurs in India are not “thinking big.” Narayanan, who is an active investor in start-ups in his personal capacity, thinks that those businesses must have the desire to “boil the ocean.” Yet, one mostly finds entrepreneurs who only have the limited ambition of “boiling water for their tea-pot,” he rues. A technology leader for more than 30 years, Narayanan also feels that there is further scope for growth for IT services firms. As a founding member of Cognizant, Narayanan has been responsible for the company’s high-touch customer relationship and delivery excellence model. Under his leadership, Cognizant became the youngest IT services company to reach the $1 billion revenue milestone.

No need to think big. Think simply and make it big like Twitter. I am not trying to be arrogant. I am just sharing my thoughts. Probably Lakshmi would have said do not limit your thoughts…

Dear Lakshmi Narayanan feels start-ups must not settle for less when they can aspire to achieve more.

You are right mans ambitions must be bigger than him self . Sky is limitless .

Thinks that those businesses must have the desire to “boil the ocean.” Yet, one mostly finds entrepreneurs who only have the limited ambition of “boiling water for their tea-pot,” he rues.

Do you think the support factor for boiling the ocean is widely available for the ones in India who really have the capacity to boil the ocean . They are very much here . The fact is that the entrepreneurs are created with grooming especially through mastering the science of life , removing their limiting thoughts , limiting belief systems created by the society around them which has seen Mogul , English slavery and partition of 1947 . The genetically set in mafias of the mind need to be addressed at the lightening speed to have warrior entrepreneurs who can boil the ocean .

They also need the mentoring from the high school level . Even the senior chairmen and CEO s of large enterprises engage CEO coaches to mentor them . US presdents are also known to have mentors to balance their aspirations .

I am of the firm view that these entrepreneurs would perform better than the elite graduates .

Would you like to fund an institution which will in the next five years create at least 100 entrepreneurs who will boil the ocean and further auto multiply their race .

Yet, one mostly finds entrepreneurs who only have the limited ambition of “boiling water for their tea-pot,” he rues.

That is the real issue which needs to be addressed . i hope you appreciate the concerns ..

Hail the entrepreneur
