, a US and India based web conferencing company, has raised $6 million in Series B financing from existing investors Mumbai-based Nexus India Capital, Index Ventures and Draper Richards. The company had raised $2.4 million in its last round from the same set of investors - some of whom have backed companies like Skype, Hotmail, and MySQL.
Dimdim provides a free, hosted web conferencing service where anyone can share their desktop, show slides, collaborate, chat, talk and broadcast via webcam – with up to 20 people for free. It also has paid versions that can support hundreds and even thousands of attendees per meeting.
The company plays in the same space as Cisco Systems’ WebEx, Microsoft’s Live Meeting and GoToMeeting. Dimdim’s co-founders are DD Ganguly (CEO), who was founder and CEO of Advanced Internet Management (acquired by Computer Associates), and Prakash Khot, co-founder and CTO of dimdim who previously led CA’s radio-frequency identification (RFID) Group as CTO.
