Uninor, an Indian arm of Norwegian telecommunication giant Telenor, has appointed Vivek Anand as its new CFO, the company said in a release.

Anand moves in from his current role as CFO at Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (Dhaka) and will take charge of the finance function at Uninor. The function includes treasury and supply chain management, internal audit, business planning and strategy, accounting, reporting and taxation.

He is replacing Prasoon Sinha, who is moving to the Group finance function at Telenor Group’s headquarters in Oslo to take up the position of vice-president and head of dynamic performance management project. This transition is expected to end by April 2014 and Anand will assume his position in May 2014.

'Vivek Anand inherits a finance function that has been key to Uninor delivering on its financial targets, including breakeven within three years, exactly as committed,'' said Morten Karlsen Sorby, CEO of Uninor.

Prior to joining Unilever Bangladesh, Anand served as the finance director at Hindustan Unilever and as regional finance director at Unilever Singapore responsible for its change management programme in finance covering all operating countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East and Central Eastern Europe.

In his new role as VP, Sinha will be involved in creating value through performance management across different business units of the Telenor Group. He will also drive the implementation of Uninor's cluster approach in different Telenor Group business units.

He joined Uninor in 2008 and prior to that, he worked with other telecommunication companies like Airtel and MTNL.

Earlier this year, Morten Karlsen Sorby was appointed as Uninor’s CEO; Sorby replaced Sigve Brekke.
