Law firm Khaitan & Co has added 12 partners to take the total to 105 across its four offices.

The firm appointed Kartick Maheshwari and Mehul Shah in Mumbai, Sharad Moudgal in Bangalore, and Nandini Khaitan and Ratnesh Rai in Kolkata as partners.

In its Delhi office, it named Ashwin Bishnoi, Dibyanshu, Diwakar Maheshwari, Gaurav Juneja, GT Thomas Phillippe, Prasenjit Chakravarty and Prateek Kumar as partners.

The firm also appointed eight associate partners and four counsels across its offices. "All of them were internal promotions," a spokesperson said.

Khaitan & Co claims to have the maximum number of partners among law firms in the country. It became the first Indian law firm to reach the 100-partner mark last year.

The new appointments will ensure that it retains the distinction even after seeing some exodus. Partnership usually involves co-ownership with a small stake in such firms.

Khaitan & Co, which has about 415 lawyers, was among the top law firms last year. It ranked No. 4 in the private equity and venture capital advisory list with 25 deals. In the mergers and acquisitions legal advisory business, Khaitan was ranked second after AZB.
