HCL co-founder joins advisory board of AI startup Number Theory

Arjun Malhotra, one of the co-founders of multinational information technology firm HCL Technologies Ltd, has joined the advisory board of Number Theory Software Pvt. Ltd, an artificial intelligence platform and data science solution provider.

Malhotra is the second person to join Number Theory Advisory Board, the company said in a statement. The first person was Ashish Jain, the former managing director at GE Ventures, the firm added.

Number Theory co-founder Rajan Nagina said Malhotra would bring his experience and expertise in building and scaling up startup to successful organization. “Having an entrepreneur’s perspective is a great asset for us and will have a profound impact on our journey,” another Number Theory co-founder Tarun Gulyani added.

An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, Malhotra co-founded HCL along with Shiv Nadar, Ajai Chowdhry, DS Puri, Yogesh Vaidya and Subhash Arora.

Apart from HCL, Malhotra was also the chairman and chief executive officer at IT firm, Headstrong. Previously, he served as a director and board member for various other firms, including Lumis Partners, Evolko Inc, Mapmygenome and Magic Software Inc.

Number Theory, which is operated by Number Theory Software Pvt. Ltd, has a presence in India and the US. The company was founded by Rajan Nagina and Tarun Gulyani in 2016, and uses its platform to help its clients accelerate innovation and grow their revenue.

The company focusses on industries such as banking, e-commerce, telecommunications and insurance. It provides products such as a data hub to fuse information from several sources, an AI workbench and modelling workflow process, including model deployments, according to its website.
