Ecom Express hires former GE exec Mayank Gupta as CFO

Ecom Express Pvt. Ltd, a logistics solutions provider for the e-commerce industry, has appointed former General Electric and Maruti Suzuki executive Mayank Kumar as senior vice president and chief financial officer, it said in a statement.

Gupta will oversee finance, accounts, legal, secretarial, commercial and administration functions, and also serve on the company's executive team. He will report to the founders and the board, the statement added.

Gupta, who has more than 19 years’ experience, began his career at automaker Maruti Suzuki India. He has held many senior management roles at General Electric, where he spent 14 years. His most recent assignment was CFO - South Asia at GE Oil & Gas, his LinkedIn profile shows.

Just a fortnight ago, Ecom Express raised $30 million (Rs 192 crore) from existing investor Warbug Pincus. The company was founded in 2012 by a team of four entrepreneurs—TA Krishnan (CEO), K Satyanarayana, Manju Dhawan, and Sanjeev Saxena.

"Gupta will be an exceptional addition to our team as we continue to navigate rapid growth and transformation from startup to industry trailblazer,” said Krishnan.

Ecom Express claims to operate in nearly 1,600 cities and towns, and service over 17,000 pin codes.
