Hyderabad-based Aayuv Technologies Pvt Ltd., the company behind eKincare an online cloud-based platform that enables users to upload their medical records and view it on the go, has secured Rs 1 crore ($161,000) more in what it is calling an angel round of funding from a US-based healthcare enterprise firm Adroitent Pvt. Ltd.

Last month it had secured the same amount from incubator-cum-seed fund Bitchemy Ventures.

The fund will be used for product development, hiring and marketing. The service is currently in Beta and has also launched eKincare app to make it easy to digitise existing physical copies of users’ medical records.

The startup was founded in September 2014 by Kiran Kalakuntla, an alumnus of Duke University. Prior to setting up the venture, he worked at companies including AT&T, Alltel, Maureil Patent Practice and NetCentrics.

eKincare is focusing on personalised, preventive and predictive healthcare. It tracks users’ family history, medical details and then enables them to assess, track and stay informed about the developments with regards to their health conditions.

It manages information from various healthcare service providers, updates the profiles, and provides a platform to view them. It then identifies potential health risks and informs the users, and motivates them to take necessary steps towards improving their health.

“We are lowering all the barriers to consolidate one’s medical history by providing the platform for free to host all their medical records. We would decipher the info and convert it into a format (colour coded, graphical history and timeline) that is easy to understand.” said Kalakuntla.

The platform is free for the user with no limits on the data stored and allows multiple profile management.

“We see a great value in eKincare’s consolidation of medical history like in the west, and building a layer of analytics on top of it to drive healthy behaviour,” said Srinath DeviReddy, president of Adroitent.

"As the Indian healthcare story evolves, there are tremendous opportunities for this to happen. We believe eKincare's approach of combining digitisation with deep analytics and home healthcare could offer tremendous value to end consumers and change the rules of the game,” said Sunil Motaparti, founder and director of BitChemy.

There are several firms in the electronic medical record (EMR) space such as Mediangels, ViDoc, RxVault among others and some have even raised funding in the past. Some of the firms are B2B focused where they help hospitals digitise and manage patient records while others offer the same to consumers as well.
