Tax advisory firm BMR & Associates LLP said on Tuesday it has appointed Payal Tuli, a former executive at automaker BMW India, as a partner in its Gurgaon office.

The appointment takes the total number of partners at the firm to 21, BMR said in a statement. Besides Gurgaon, the firm has offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Pune.

Payal, a Delhi University alumnus, has 13 years of experience in customs and indirect taxation and has also previously worked with E.I. Dupont and some Fortune 500 multinational companies.

“Payal Tuli will be a great addition to our indirect tax practice. Her experience in the area of customs and indirect taxation across a range of industries will help dive deeper into our client’s business dynamics and blend with our extensive technical skills to deliver effective advice,” said Rajeev Dimri, who leads the indirect tax practice at BMR.

Payal’s appointment comes after Bhavik Timbadia, a transfer pricing partner, joined the firm at the same office earlier this year.

BMR was among the top firms which advised on mergers and acquisitions in India last year, though it failed to enter the list of top five advisers for private equity and venture capital deals.
