Airtel to launch low-cost 4G smartphone to take on Jio

The entry of Reliance Jio has disrupted India’s telecom sector in more ways than one could have imagined. However, Bharti’s Airtel, the country’s biggest telco, is looking to take on Jio with a 4G smartphone for Rs 2,500 that will bundle data and voice minutes. With major telecom players looking to drive down smartphones prices and offering bundled services, will high-end smartphone makers need to reinvent to ensure survival?
