Yes Bank names Amit Sanan head of mid-corporate banking

Yes Bank has named Amit Sanan as group president and country head for mid-corporate banking, it said in a statement.

Sanan will be responsible for deepening key corporate relationships in the mid-corporate space covering more than 30 locations nationally, with a mandate to grow and scale up the ‘Life-Cycle Banking Business’.

The two existing teams of emerging corporate banking and commercial business banking comprising 300 relationship managers will now report to him. Besides a focus on granular transaction banking, cross sell and digital banking solutions, Sanan would also drive business development in the key knowledge banking sectors, the statement said.

Sanan has more than 20 years of corporate banking experience in the areas of relationship management, structured financing and commercial banking.

Prior to this, Sanan worked with Standard Chartered, DSP Merill Lynch, Rabo India Finance and American Express. Sanan has completed his Bachelors in Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and PGDM from IIM-Ahmedabad.

The bank has also appointed former Competition Commission of India (CCI) head Ashok Chawla as non-executive part-time chairman. Chawla has been appointed for three years with effect from October upon expiry of the term of current chairperson Radha Singh. The lender has already received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the appointment.

Chawla was appointed as an independent director on the board of Yes Bank on March 5, 2016.

He is a civil servant with more than 40 years of experience.
