Belgian investment firm Verlinvest and the family of Epigamia’s late founder, Rohan Mirchandani, have increased their stake in the healthy food brand via a secondary deal.
The round also saw Sauce.VC make an investment in the company, Epigamia said Tuesday. Sauce VC's founder, Manu Chandra, was already an investor in the company in his individual capacity.
Financials terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.
Epigamia was launched in 2015 by Rohan Mirchandani, Uday Thakker, Ganesh Krishnamoorthy, and Rahul Jain. The brand kicked off with its Greek yoghurt. The company later entered other categories including smoothies, protein drinks, and desserts.
In 2024, Mirchandani died following a heart attack.
According to a person familiar with the matter, VC firm DSG Consumer Partners and KA Enterprises exited the company in the latest transaction.
A joint press statement said the investments by consumer-focused investor Verlinvest and the founding family reflected their “long-term conviction and confidence” in the brand.
Epigamia CEO Ritesh Gauba said the company was building a “category-defining” food and beverage brand that strongly resonates with consumers and creates sustainable, long-term value.
“This new deal signals that we have a stable shareholder base supporting us in the next phase of our growth. I am excited to work with Arjun, Manu, and the Mirchandani family as we work on the next chapter in Epigamia’s success story,” Gauba said.
Arjun Anand, managing director and head of Asia at Verlinvest, said, “Indian consumers today are moving towards healthy, calorie-conscious, and high-protein foods, and Epigamia is addressing that need with a variety of novel and innovative product ranges.”
Swaraj Mirchandani, representing the Mirchandani Family, said, “The Epigamia brand is deeply meaningful to our family, and we remain firmly committed to supporting the business. We are pleased to increase the Mirchandani family’s ownership stake in the company and help build the vision Rohan had for it.”
