Delhi-based WAH Holidays Pvt Ltd, which owns and runs a holiday recommendation portal WeAreHolidays, has secured an undisclosed amount as seed funding from Blume Ventures, Mumbai Angels, Sachin Bhatia (co-founder of MakeMyTrip) and Rajesh Sawhney-promoted GSF India for product development as well as content and back-end integration. The development was first reported by The Economic Times.

The startup was co-founded in early 2011 by the trio Deepak Wadhwa (CEO), Harkirat Singh and Mohit Piplani along with key team member for technology and other major operation, Prashant G. Wadhwa and Singh are former employees of NASDAQ-listed OTA MakeMyTrip. Wadhwa holds an MBA in marketing and finance from IMI Delhi; besides MakeMyTrip, he worked in Cognizant Technology Solutions. Both Singh and Piplani have MBAs from IMT Ghaziabad. Singh worked in companies like Infosys apart from MakeMyTrip and Piplani previously worked at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. Prashant earlier co-founded two startups—CricketWeekly.in and OmSakshar Pvt Ltd.

“With the funding we will strengthen our content and technology teams, for which we will hire people, including two senior hires for technology,” Wadhwa told VCCircle.

He said a member from Mumbai Angles and another one from GSF India will join the board of the startup sometime soon. “We were not part of GSF’s incubator programme,” Wadhwa said. The company’s current team size is 28 people.

This is Blume Ventures’ fifth investment in the last couple of months. Since April it has invested in many niche startups like ShepHertzDataWeaveBedbathmore.com and TaxiForSure.com (which was also announced on Friday).
