Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), a single-specialty platform backed by US private equity firm TPG and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC, has committed further capital to its urology and nephrology hospital chain for expansion in an eastern Indian state.

The healthcare platform has committed Rs 100 crore ($10.5 million) to Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) as part of its expansion plans, the company said on Tuesday. This adds to AHH’s cumulative capital commitment of Rs 650 crore towards AINU so far.

AINU plans to launch its super-specialised uro-nephrology hospital in Bhubaneswar, marking its entry into Odisha. AHH intends to close the fiscal year with a network of 10 hospitals under AINU's expanding network.

Bhubaneswar marks AINU's eighth facility in India, following Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Siliguri, and Chennai. The facility will offer kidney and urology services to patients across Odisha and neighbouring regions.

“At AHH, our approach is to strengthen specialised healthcare platforms such as AINU by investing in clinical capabilities, technology and infrastructure to expand access to advanced care across underserved markets,” said Vishal Bali, Executive Director, Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH).

“Post the acquisition, we have added 300 beds, enhanced robotic technology and strengthened clinical talent.”

AINU focuses on kidney and urological care, with a network of more than 500 beds. Its services span nephrology, urology, uro-oncology, robotic surgery, kidney transplantation, dialysis, paediatric urology, andrology and reconstructive urology.

Apart from AINU, AHH houses two more single-speciality healthcare chains—Motherhood and Nova IVF. It merged the legal entity behind Nova IVF with that of Motherhood sometime back and the two brands now operate under Rhea Healthcare Ltd. It was planning to bring AINU, too, under Rhea Healthcare.

AHH also previously owned Cancer Treatment Services International (CTSI), a chain of oncology hospitals, but exited in 2019 just three years after buying it. CTSI is currently a part of Siemens Healthineers and operates under the brand American Oncology Institute. However, the AHH website continues to list it as a portfolio company.
