Temasek India MD Padmanabh Sinha Heading To Tata Capital

In a major lateral move, Padmanabh (Paddy) Sinha, Managing Director of Temasek Holdings India, one of the two sovereign wealth funds managing investments of Singapore government, will join Tata Opportunities Fund as Senior Partner and Chief Investment Officer. He will be taking up the new responsibility on or before March this year, VCCircle has learnt.

Last year, Tata Capital announced plans to set up a $1-billion PE fund through its Singapore-based subsidiary, which entered into a strategic partnership with Japan’s Mizuho Securities.

 

Sinha has a total experience of 16 years in private equity, entrepreneurial and investment banking activities. He has been involved in over 15 investments with a portfolio value of over  $1 billion and has widespread experience across many industries and sectors in both private and public companies.

With an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a graduation in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani),  Sinha joined Temasek in 2004 as part of the founding India team and became Managing Director (India) in October 2007. He has been an integral part of the Temasek India investment team and also served as a director on the board of Temasek India.

He also led some global special projects for Temasek involving insurance sector opportunities internationally and leading a potential investment of $2 billion.

Prior to Temasek, Sinha was a private equity investor with ICICI Venture. Sinha had an entrepreneurial stint over 1999-2002 as President & CFO, and founding team member of an e-learning company funded by ChrysCapital, Star TV and IFC, and eventually sold to NIIT. Prior to that, he was an investment banker for four and a half years.

Sinha has served on the boards of leading Indian companies including Bharti Infratel Limited, Punj Lloyd Limited and many young emerging companies across retail, media, industrials and consumer products sectors.

Tata Capital has now Mukund Rajan as managing partner-Tata Opportunities Fund, Visalakshi Chandramouli  as partner-Healthcare Fund, Mohan Harshey as Partner-Innovation Fund, Pramod Ahuja  as partner-Growth Fund and, Bobby Pauly and Vineet Chadha as principals-private equity.
