Tata Capital Growth Fund (TCGF), the private equity arm of Tata Capital, has appointed Aviral Jain as partner for its third fund, strengthening its investment team as it moves closer to achieving its fundraising target.
Jain joins from US-based investment firm Siguler Guff, where he served as managing director and head of India, overseeing direct investments in the country. He has nearly two decades of experience across alternative and public markets, with expertise spanning investment sourcing, execution and portfolio management.
In his new role, Jain will lead transactions across sectors, covering deal identification, sourcing, execution and exits.
“Aviral joins us at an exciting time augmenting a proven, stable, and highly functioning team that is perfectly aligned with our core philosophy at TCGF III,” said Pramod Ahuja, co-head and partner at TCGF.
TCGF III has scaled its fundraising and is within striking distance of its target, according to the firm. Tata Capital had disclosed a target corpus of $300 million (around Rs 2,841 crore) for the third fund in its FY24 annual report. The fund is registered as a Category II alternative investment fund with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
The fund follows TCGF’s established investment themes of urbanisation, strategic services and discrete manufacturing.
During his tenure at Siguler Guff, Jain served on the boards of portfolio companies across financial services, consumer, healthcare and technology.
Before joining Siguler Guff, he worked at Merrill Lynch in its global structured finance and investments group, where he managed a private equity and debt investment portfolio, and at Edelweiss Capital and Procter & Gamble.
TCGF is the flagship private equity franchise of Tata Capital and provides growth capital to Indian businesses, alongside operational guidance, governance support and access to the wider Tata Group network.
