Clean technology focused growth equity firm, Element Partners has appointed Sujit Banerjee as an operating partner. Banerjee was previously a partner at BlueRun Ventures (BRV) and will continue as an operating partner with BRV in mobile and consumer investments. He had founded the cleantech practice at BRV for India.

Banerjee has over 9 years of experience in capital investments. Before joining BlueRun, Banerjee was a principal with TL ventures where he led investments in pre-IPO companies- Atrenta and Sonics. Prior to that, he worked as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch. He has also worked as a management consultant in the semi conductor industry and as an engineer with Synoptics Communications.

Banerjee’s association with Element is not recent as while at BlueRun, his interests in clean tech led to various co-investments by BlueRun and Element. The two had co-invested in Deeya Energy, a green energy storage management company. Sujit Banerjee established the company’s go-to-market strategy in India, leveraging a technology developed at NASA. Benerjee also led another co-investment with Element in Petra Solar, a renewable energy systems company.

Element Partners was founded in 2005 and currently manages over $800 million in three funds. It has offices in Philadelphia, PA and Menlo Park, CA. The firm focuses its investments in companies that address environmental and resource challenges in the energy, water, chemicals, and manufacturing industries.
