Subbu Subramaniam’s MCap Adds Two Partners

Former partner at Baring Private Equity Partners India N. ‘Subbu’ Subramaniam has roped in two partners for MCap Fund Advisors. Rahul Gupta, who was the chief risk officer for Citigroup in India, and Abhilash Lal, who was till recently director at real estate consultancy DTZ, have joined him as partners. MCap is currently on the road to raise its debut private equity fund.

Subramaniam, managing partner at MCap, had earlier told VCCircle that he may look to raise a fund of $250 million to $500 million, depending upon infrastructure being a part of the investment strategy.

Rahul Gupta has been an international banker with over 27 years of experience. Apart from Citibank, he has also worked with  Bank of America as country manager for consumer banking in India.

Abhilash Lal, who will also have the additional responsibility as a COO, will take charge of day to day operations. He will look at areas like BFSI, IT & ITES and Healthcare. Lal has 21 years of experience and has worked in business head positions with HSBC, A. T.   Kearney, Genpact and DTZ.

Besides, MCap has also appointed Prof Raghuram Rajan and Phillippe Becker to its advisory board, among others, according to its website. Rajan is the economic advisor to prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh while Becker is the managing director of Wasserstein Advisors India.
