Delhi-based law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM & Co) has promoted its M&A and private equity advisory partner Raghubir Menon as regional practice head for the western region.

Menon will relocate to Mumbai along with two other partners, Natashaa Shroff and Ekta Gupta, and a team of their associates, the firm said in a statement. Natashaa Shroff is the daughter of Shardul Shroff, executive chairman at SAM & Co.

The development comes after Shuva Mandal, the firm's national general M&A and PE head, left in May to be general counsel at Tata Sons Ltd.

“Raghubir is a stellar lawyer with an impeccable reputation in the industry,” said Shardul Shroff. “Along with Natashaa and Ekta, the team will drive the M&A and private equity practice in Mumbai, which is an important market for the firm.”

According to Arti Mashru, founder of consulting firm LexBlurb, this move will help the firm to focus more aggressively on M&A deals and will send a message to clients about the firm's commitment to the Mumbai market.

Menon has work experience of a decade and half. He has advised many PE firms and sovereign wealth funds in matters pertaining to fund formation, and onshore and offshore structuring.

Both Natashaa and Ekta Gupta also specialise in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures and corporate structuring of transactions.

The firm has about 480 lawyers, including 91 partners, offering legal services through its offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai.
