Proparco SA, the private-sector arm of French development finance institution (DFI) Agence Française de Développement, has been investing in India for more than 10 years and has committed over half a billion dollars in the country.

In a video interaction with VCCircle, the DFI's South Asia director Philippe Serres said that Proparco continues to have a lot of appetite for India. "India is a best example of an emerging country both in terms of risks and opportunities and that can be used as a model to invest in other regions," he added.

He also said that while Proparco will continue to explore opportunities in renewable space, which currently constitutes the bulk of its investment, it will also seek to diversify its presence within infrastructure.

He also talked about why it plans to invest in generalist funds and why it is not looking at exits now. For more, watch the video.
