Bangalore-based CereBrahm Innovations Pvt Ltd, which operates parenting app BabyBerry, has secured $1 million (Rs 6.8 crore) in angel funding from industrialist Nitin Bagmane and a bunch of undisclosed investors.
BabyBerry will use the funds raised to scale up and expand product offerings, the company said in a press statement. Going forward, BabyBerry will cater to expecting mothers and couples who are planning to have a baby.
Launched in November 2015 by Balasubramanian Venkatachalam, Subhashini Subramaniam and Dev Vig, BabyBerry is a child health and wellness platform designed for new-age parents. The app provides features around digital vaccination, health records management and doctor discovery, besides other services. It also provides personalised content from experts such as pediatricians, nutritionists and psychologists.
BabyBerry is available on both Android and iOS platforms. The app has been downloaded about 50,000 times since inception.
The startup also offers CereBrate, a data analytics platform as part of its product offering. The company counts Manipal Hospitals and Fortis Hospitals as clients.
A bunch of tech startups have ventured into the business of providing childcare advice online. Most platforms allow parents to share concerns about children and compare notes with other parents, besides facilitating a range of childcare services. Gurgaon-based startup Mycity4kids, a parenting blog and kidsâ events discovery site, raised $3 million (around Rs 20 crore) in Series A funding last month.
Before that, My Child App, which helps parents track learning disorder in children, raised $100,000 (Rs 66 lakh) from Silicon Valley-based early stage VC fund 500 Startups, Singapore Angel Network and a bunch of angel investors.
BabyChakra, raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding led by Mumbai Angels, Patni Family Office and Singapore Angel Network while ZenParent.in secured $500,000 (Rs 3.17 crore) from Bangalore-based i2india Venture Factory.
Parentune, Parentedge and KIDSS (Kid Social Shell) are some of the other ventures in this space.
