E-commerce startup 10i Commerce Services Pvt. Ltd, which runs the ShopX app, has appointed former Amazon India executive Kirti Varun to lead its product management function.

As vice president of product management, Varun will be part of the company's leadership team and work closely with co-founders Amit Sharma (CEO) and Apoorva Jois (COO), a press note said.

Prior to ShopX, Varun was principal product manager at Amazon India. Before that, he was senior engagement manager with McKinsey & Company, where he played a pivotal role in building the consultancy's digital banking practice. He has also worked with ITC in the past.

Founded in 2014, ShopX helps small retailers sell online. The company claims the app has nearly 45,000 retailers on board, across 230 towns in 10 states.

“With our digital offline model, we have been able to offer a wide range of products across categories through our 45,000-plus retailer network," said Sharma.

In December last year, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani invested another $5 million (Rs 33.9 crore then) in the startup. The former UIDAI chairman had earlier invested $5 million in ShopX.

ShopX is Nilekani’s biggest-ever bet on a startup.

Besides Nilekani, ShopX is mentored by Jagdish Kini, former CEO, Airtel (south region), and Pramod Varma, former chief architect, UIDAI Aadhar project.
