Law firm JSA adds eight equity partners

Gurgaon-headquartered law firm J Sagar Associates (JSA) has added eight equity partners, taking the total number of partners to 33 across its four offices. It has elevated three each from Delhi and Gurgaon offices and one each from Mumbai and Bangalore.

"As an equal opportunity firm, JSA remains committed to its collegiate model, which is not owned and controlled by any individual or family," said Berjis Desai, senior partner, JSA.

JSA, which has a pan-India presence, last elevated Vishnu Sudarsan and Varghese Thomas as equity partners in 2013.  

Delhi 

Amitabh Kumar, Anupam Varma and Dheeraj Nair have been elevated from the firm's Delhi office. 

Kumar, who has three decades of experience, handles cases of abuse and cartels besides merger filings and organising competition compliance programmes at JSA. A retired Indian Revenue Service officer, Kumar has handled diverse assignments in the regulation, public finance and policy space.

Varma specialises in commercial, regulatory, policy and constitutional dispute resolution. He has also advised private utilities in the electricity sector on legal and regulatory issues in addition to clients in the energy efficiency and conservation space.

Nair, whose core area of practice is dispute resolution, mediation and negotiations, has handled litigation for companies involved in manufacturing, processing, trading and import of food products, etc.

Gurgaon

The law firm has promoted Divyanshu Pandey, Rupinder Malik and Siddharth Shankar from its Gurgaon office.

Pandey joined JSA from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, London, in 2009 and has been handling domestic and international clients in banking and finance-related transactions.

Malik, who specialises in general corporate commercial, M&A and regulatory and policy, has advised on foreign investment related issues. Prior to joining JSA, she was with Baker & Mckenzie.

Shankar has been representing multi-national companies in cross-border transactions, advising on foreign direct investments, outbound investments, joint ventures, technology transfers and commercial contract issues.

Mumbai

Vikram Raghani, who joined JSA in 2003, has been promoted as partner from the Mumbai office. His areas of practice include M&A, PE and securities laws. He has also been involved in capital market transactions besides being a part of the team that advises clients on commercial transactions on securities, company law and exchange control.

Bangalore

Gerald Manoharan has been elevated from the company's Bangalore office. He has advised domestic and cross-border transactions involving FDI, joint ventures and M&A. He has also been advising infrastructure and real estate companies on matters relating to debt and equity investments.
