The Indian economy will emerge as the least affected from the global economic crisis, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a statement read out in parliament on Thursday.

India's economy is estimated to grow 7.1 percent in 2008/09, below 9.0 percent in the previous year, as the global economic slowdown is expected to hurt key sectors such as real estate, automobiles and construction.
