Carlyle’s Shankar Narayanan joins Infotech Enterprise as non-executive director

Shankar Narayanan, a managing director of Carlyle Group, has joined Infotech Enterprises, a Hyderabad-based software solutions company as a non-executive director.

At Carlyle, Narayanan handles leading growth capital investments in India and has led investments in Claris Lifesciences, Elitecore Technologies, Repco Home Finance, Tirumala Milk Products, Visen Industries, Value and Budget Housing Corporation, Edelweiss Financial Services, South Indian Bank and Infotech Enterprises since he joined in 2004.

Narayanan is also on the board of Elitecore Technologies, Cyberoam Technologies, Repco Home Finance, Visen Industries and Tirumala Milk Products Pvt Ltd.

Prior to joining Carlyle, Narayanan spent six years at Hathway Investments in Mumbai as managing director and chief executive officer. He was also with Hong Kong-based Deutsche Bank Capital Partners as director, South Asia and India and also worked at Citibank, Mumbai.

Narayanan obtained his post graduate diploma in Management from XLRI (Xavier Labour Relations Institute), Jamshedpur and Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.

In July, 2012, Carlyle Group, though its arm, First Carlyle Ventures Mauritius, invested $38.03 million in Infotech Enterprises Ltd for 9.96 per cent stake.

Infotech Enterprises Ltd, together with its subsidiaries, provides geospatial, engineering design, and information technology (IT) solutions. The company also provides product development and lifecycle support, process, network, and content engineering solutions.

Infotech operates primarily in India, North America, and Europe.
