VCCircle Awards 2016

Online supermarket BigBasket, microlender Janalakshmi Financial Services and logistics firm Delhivery Pvt Ltd have emerged among the winners of VCCircle Awards 2016 declared on Wednesday in Mumbai.

Avendus Capital won the award for the investment banker of the year while AZB & Partners triumphed among law firms.

The fifth edition of VCCircle Annual Awards, which recognises the best-performing private equity or venture capital-backed companies and transaction advisors, was held at Taj Land End, Mumbai.

The award function was attended by top entrepreneurs, CEOs, fund managers and other industry stalwarts.

The awards are given to the most outstanding companies that not only record tremendous growth but also have a long-standing impact on their respective industries and the economy in general. The best intermediaries in private equity transactions - investment banks and law firms - are honoured as well.

This year, a five-member jury of industry veterans and long-time watchers of businesses judged the winners after evaluating them on a variety of qualitative and quantitative parameters such as financial performance, growth, brand salience, management quality and return on capital employed.

The jury was chaired by Roopa Kudva, managing director at Omidyar Network India Advisors. The other four members were Anjali Bansal, partner at TPG; Ireena Vittal, an expert on Indian agriculture and urban change; Gopal Srinivasan, chairman and managing director at TVS Capital Funds Ltd; and Valerie Rozycki Wagoner, founder and CEO at ZipDial and also senior director of growth at Twitter.
