Bharti Enterprises appoints Sam Ghosh to lead financial services biz

Bharti Enterprises has appointed insurance industry veteran Soumen (Sam) Ghosh as managing director of its financial services business, which includes the company’s general and life insurance business and wealth management vertical.

Sunil Mittal, founder and chairman, Bharti Enterprises, said in a statement: "As we renew our focus and chart the next phase of growth for our financial services business, I am confident Sam's rich and diverse experience in the sector will add immense value.''

Before joining Bharti, Ghosh was executive director and group chief executive officer at Reliance Capital, where he oversaw several business lines such as insurance, mutual funds, commercial and housing finance, broking and distribution.

Prior to that, he was regional CEO, Middle East and India sub-continent region, at German insurance company Allianz.

Ghosh is a chartered accountant from the UK and holds a degree in mechanical engineering.
