E-commerce major Amazon India has launched an interactive online training programme christened Amazon Classroom to impart online selling skills to new sellers, a company statement said.

The programme, which is open to sellers less than a month old on Amazon.in, functions as a virtual classroom and focuses on areas such as order processing, adding products and managing returns, all elements that are required to operate a successful online business.

Sellers across categories can avail of free practice sessions and can interact with one another. They can revisit the content covered in the classroom, download files, participate in poll questions and chat with experts to get their queries resolved.

“We have received 99% positive feedback from the sellers who attended these online classroom sessions, which has resulted in a positive increase in their performance as well,” Gopal Pillai, director and general manager, Seller Services, Amazon India said in the press note.

In September last year, Amazon India had set up ‘Seller Cafes’ in 24 cities and towns across the country. Seller Café is an on-ground seller support channel where sellers can set up Amazon accounts and get queries resolved. The idea behind the effort was to help sellers get accustomed to the way the marketplace works.

The Indian arm of the US-based e-tailer had launched a special lending program for sellers last year, helping them access secured and unsecured loans between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2 crore from their partners Capital First and YES Bank. Its global selling programme, launched in India in May 2015, has over 20,000 sellers today, which retails ‘Made in India’ products on Amazon’s ten global marketplaces.
