After-school learning courses listing startup KleverKid raises funding from Aarin, others

New Delhi-based KleverKid, an after-school hobby and education services marketplace, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from Aarin Capital Partners along with a group of other angel investors such as Ananda Kallugadde, Sunil Kaul and Maina Sahi.

The company plans to use the money to expand from Delhi NCR to all Tier I cities across India.

Founded in 2013 by Shabnam Aggarwal, KleverKid positions itself as a Yelp for learning courses. Yelp is a local business listing and review platform.

Prior to founding this online venture, Shabnam worked as a guest lecturer at IIT Delhi. Previously she worked with Eneza Education as advisor, Pearson as head of strategic partnerships, Datawind as senior VP- strategic relations and others.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in science, electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, the US.

“Our goal is to democratise learning. We believe no matter what age, race, religion, or social class a child comes from, he/she deserves the best teachers that exist. By providing the highest quality information and feedback to parents across the nation, we believe we can help influence important decisions in a positive way and thus bring the best teachers to the children who need them the most,” said Shabnam.

Aarin Capital, founded by Infosys veteran T V Mohandas Pai and Manipal Group's Ranjan Pai in 2011, invests in healthcare, life sciences and technology based products and services businesses pursuing large market opportunities.

Recently, it invested in Bangalore-based Homevista Decor and Furnishing Pvt Ltd. Its other investment includes in the companies like Global Stay Services, Insightra Medical Inc, Vyome Biosciences and Ishita Technologies Pvt Ltd.
