International private equity firm TVM Capital Healthcare Partners, which has a presence in India through its portfolio company Bourn Hall International, has appointed Sudhir Bahl as executive-in-residence in Dubai and director for Indian operations.
Bahl co-founded Irene Healthcare in 2011, which runs a small hospital chain in Delhi NCR and was its acting CEO. Earlier he was COO of Nova Specialty Surgery, founder director and COO of ICICI Venture-backed Iven Medicare and vice president of Apollo Hospitals among others.
“Sudhir Bahl is a healthcare domain specialist with over 21years of experience in India and the Middle East region. He comes with an understanding of the complete healthcare ecosystem,” said Helmut Schühsler, chairman and CEO of TVM Capital Healthcare Partners.
Bahl’s responsibility would include contributing to development of TVM Capital’s portfolio companies in MENA and India and build its presence in New Delhi. He will be the first port of call for Indian entrepreneurs and management teams seeking growth financing from TVM Capital Healthcare.
TVM Capital, which is part of TVM Capital Group, has around $1.2 billion assets under management across the world. While TVM Capital looks at both life sciences and healthcare space, TVM Capital focuses on healthcare and looks at emerging markets like Africa, Middle East and India.
In an earlier interaction with VCCircle, Schühsler had said that the PE player is planning to raise a new emerging market fund with target corpus of around $150 million.
The PE firm, which entered Indian healthcare market when its portfolio company Bourn Hall made in-roads in the country in 2010, plans to invest up to $100 million in the local market in the next three to five years. Further, it has made a commitment to invest up to $100 million in Bourn Hall International which has two centres in India.
