Surojit Shome, former managing director and head of investment banking at Nomura Group, has joined Rabo India Finance Ltd as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer. Rabo India Finance is the investment banking arm of Rabobank International.
Surojit will report to Rob van Zadelhoff, Head of Asia for Rabobank International.
Shome had moved to Nomura after the latter merged Lehman Brother's Asian operations, including India, to itself. Besides Lehman Brothers and Nomura, Shome has also worked with Citibank, where he spent 19 years. At Citi, he was Managing Director and Head of Corporate Banking for the Indian sub-continent, overseeing corporate and financial institution coverage teams for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. He moved to Lehman Brothers in 2006.
In his role as Managing Director & Head of the Investment Banking Division at Lehman Brothers in India, he was responsible for building the investment banking platform for Lehman Brothers with capabilities across capital markets, M&A advisory and private equity origination.
