Health-tech platform Medlife International Pvt. Ltd has acquired Mumbai-based digital healthcare platform and home diagnostics services company MedLabz for an undisclosed sum.

“The sophisticated diagnostic capabilities offered by MedLabz will help us strengthen our position in the diagnostics segment. In diagnostics alone, we have so far served 90,000 unique customers till date with over 150,000 deliveries,” said Tushar Kumar, Medlife co-founder and chief executive.

Founded in 2014 by Kumar and Prashant Singh, Medlife started with online drug delivery and diversified into online doctor consultation and laboratory services.

Kumar and Singh also run Tulip Lab Pvt. Ltd, a company that makes herbal and allopathic medicines. In fact, Kumar comes from a family of pharmaceutical entrepreneurs and was briefly involved with drugmaker Alkem Laboratories Ltd.

MedLabz was founded in 2015 by a group of IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi graduates -- Harshal Jain, Kumar Akarsh, Piyush Singh, Srikanth Kumar Manne, Nimish Mehta, and Siddharth Bidwan. The company, through its artificial intelligence-based engine, provides patients and corporates health with insights in vernacular languages, using data from diagnostics, doctor consultation and diet consultation. MedLabz claims to have served more than 200,000 patients since inception and operates in 120 cities across India.

Medlife said the technology integration from MedLabz will help the company provide patients with data insights in their preferred language, besides enabling them to view reports online, via mobile application or WhatsApp. With the acquisition, Medlife will also launch sample collection at home through an in-house fleet of medical professionals.

Medlife now offers a slew of healthcare services including doctor e-consultations, lab tests, health supplements, and delivery of medicines. The company also announced the launch of its central laboratory in Bengaluru. The central lab is a fully automated pathology lab offering biochemistry, immunology, hematology, clinical pathology and cytology services.
