Chennai- and US-based Freshdesk Inc, which provides a SaaS-based customer support platform to enterprises, has secured $6.99 million in Series C round of funding from existing investors Accel Partners and Tiger Global.
âWe will use the capital raised from this round for expanding further in the US market and also for marketing and sales activities,â Freshdesk co-founder and CEO Girish Mathrubootham told VCCircle/Techcircle. With this round, the total capital raised by Freshdesk so far reached $13 million.
In April last year, Freshdesk had secured a Series B funding of $5 million from Tiger Global and Accel Partners. In December 2011, it had raised $1 million in Series A from Accel Partners.
The report on its fresh round of funding first appeared in NextBigWhat.
The company was set up in 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham (CEO) and Shan Krishnasamy (CTO). Mathrubootham, who holds an MBA from the University of Madras, earlier worked with Zoho Corporation. At Zoho, he met his co-founder who was working as a technical architect at that time. Krishnasamy is an engineering graduate from Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology, Vellore.
The company was started to provide email and website integration customer support and later it launched phone-based Twitter and Facebook support as well. In a chat with Techcircel.in early last month, Mathrubootham said that the firm had a customer base of 11,000 from over 18 countries. It counts firms like MakeMyTrip, Pearson, Stanford School of Medicine and Toshiba amongst its clientele. A few weeks ago, the firm launched an integrated telephony feature called Freshfone, a virtual cloud-based contact centre software that allows staff to handle telephone-based queries through its unified service.
