Farokh Nariman Subedar has been appointed as the chairman of Tata Asset Management Ltd (TAML), the investment manager to Tata Mutual Fund, with effect from June 11, 2014, as per a company statement.
He takes over from Farrokh Kavarana, who was chairman, TAML, for over 12 years, and just retired having attained the retirement age of 70 years.
Subedar is currently working as a chief operating officer of Tata Sons, the group holding company of the Mumbai-headquartered conglomerate. He is also the vice-chairman of Tata Investment Corporation and a director on the boards of several Tata companies, including Tata Capital, Tata Capital Financial Services and Tata AIG General Insurance Company in the financial services sector.
He joined Tata Capital Ltd in 1997 as a director and is involved in formulating group policies and advising group companies on accounting, taxation and legal issues.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (honours) and is a CA.
