Wipro Looks For $50-100 Million Buyouts

Wipro has been one of the most aggressive groups (of course, apart from the Tatas) in making acquisitions abroad. The Bangalore-based group has so far made nine buys this year, and is looking for more. Here is what Azim Premji, the group chairman, told The Economic Times about Wipro’s acquisition strategy:

We have acquired nine in all — seven in IT and two others. We will now be looking for slightly larger buyouts, in the $50-100 million space. The acquisitions are bringing expertise to us, they are strategic to us, they are helping us build intellectual property and they are giving us a better global footprint. We will also be looking at new acquisitions in Europe and America in the long run.

So Wipro is very clear about how it wants to grow - inorganically.
