Tata Tele To Divest 20 Per Cent For $500 Million To Temasek And Sivasankaran

The buzz is back again. Tata Teleservices is close to divesting about 20 per cent in favour of private investors like Temasek Holdings and C Sivasankaran for $500 million. Business Standard reports that negotiations were on with the investors and a final decision would be taken after Tata group supremo Ratan Tata returns to India by the weekend. “The number of investors, the pricing and the exact quantum of stake to be divested should be decided by February 15,” said the sources. Temasek is a leading private equity fund owned by the Singapore government. C Sivasankaran is a serial entrepreneur who recently sold his Aircel Cellular to Malaysia's Maxis Group for $1.08 billion.
