Alok C. Misra, the former chief financial officer of WNS Group, has joined the global private equity major General Atlantic as a senior vice-president for its Indian operations. As part of the PE firm’s Resources Group, Misra will provide financial expertise and strategic counsel to its investment teams and portfolio companies. He will be based in General Atlantic’s Mumbai office.
Most recently, Misra was working with the WNS Group as CFO and helped lead the company through significant expansion and transformation. Prior to joining WNS, he was the group CFO of MphasiS (then MphasiS BFL Ltd) and also served in several roles across accounting and finance at other firms including I.T.C. and PwC. Misra holds an honours degree in Commerce from the University of Calcutta.
General Atlantic manages around $18 billion in capital (including total committed capital and portfolio investments) and has more than 80 investment professionals based in New York, Greenwich, Connecticut and Palo Alto in the US. The firm’s Indian team is led by Sandeep Naik, who joined the firm last December.
“We are extremely pleased to have Alok join our team in this senior role to help our diligence professionals with potential portfolio companies, as well as support existing portfolios in their growth,” said Naik.
“As the first member of the GA Resources Group in India, Alok brings extensive public company financial experience that will be invaluable in supporting our Mumbai office,” added Cory Eaves, managing director and head of GA Resources Group.
