Walden inducts Ganapathy Subramaniam as venture partner, eyes semiconductor startups in India

Global venture capital firm Walden International (WI) has inducted Ganapathy Subramaniam (Gani) as venture partner for its own and affiliate funds such as WRV II, it said on Monday.

Lip‐Bu Tan, chairman of Walden, said, “His rich experience in semiconductors and network will help us identify suitable opportunities in India. We continue to believe India has incredible, untapped potential in the electronics and semiconductor industry.”

Gani has more than two decades of experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to founding and serving as CEO of Cosmic Circuits Pvt Ltd, he held senior management positions with Texas Instruments.

He has been focused on analogue, RF design and design management and has managed design teams world‐wide for mixed‐signal and SoC product development and is one of key names pushing strategic initiatives such as CMOS Wireless LAN RF development and power management integration on system‐on‐chips.

“India has a rich experience in semiconductors and electronics. The Make In India theme will further augment growth of the electronics industry here and we anticipate seeing many exciting startups in this area. WI’s extensive network and commitment to semiconductor and electronics is crucial for the success of the startup ecosystem in India,” said Gani.

Walden has assets under management of over $2.3 billion and its investments include GoPro, Creative Technology, MindTree, SINA, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, AutoNavi, Inphi, Silergy, Ambarella and Sinosun Technology.
