Switzerland-headquartered UBS has tweaked the structure of its top management team of India operations and named Uday Odedra as the new India head.

Odedra will replace Harald Egger, the multinational investment banking and financial services group said in a statement on Monday. Egger has been elevated as chairman of UBS India, a newly created role.

Odedra is currently the head of group technology for UBS’ operations in the Asia Pacific region. He will assume additional responsibilities as India country head from January 2021, the bank said.

Odedra has been with UBS for over 20 years. He was based in London before moving to Pune in 2015 to establish the bank’s business solution centres to grow the digital and technology presence in India.

Egger had replaced Aashish Kamat as India chief three years ago.

Egger, who is also the head of UBS’ corporate services India vertical, will provide strategic oversight and direction for the business solution centres in the region. He will relocate to Switzerland to continue in his new global role.

The management changes reflects the Swiss banking giant’s significant presence in the Indian subcontinent, the bank said.

UBS has a worldwide presence with offices in more than 50 regions and locations, with about 30% of its employees working in the Americas, 31% in Switzerland, 19% in the rest of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and 20% in Asia Pacific. In all, it employs over 68,000 people around the world.
