Arunabh Kumar, founder and CEO of The Viral Fever (TVF) Media Labs, was granted anticipatory bail by a sessions court on Monday in the molestation case filed against him at the MIDC Police Station in Andheri (East) last month.
“Now, the police will have to file the chargesheet and the matter will accordingly proceed,†advocate Samsher Garud, who represented Kumar in the court along with senior counsel Aabad Ponda, told VCCircle.
Earlier this month, Kumar had secured bail in another molestation case filed against him at the Versova Police Station in Andheri, The Indian Express had reported.
Last month, Mumbai Police had summoned the chief of the digital entertainment startup for his statement after he was booked on molestation charges. The victim, a former TVF employee, had filed a first information report against Kumar at the MIDC Police Station, alleging sexual harassment and attempts to outrage her modesty.
"After taking his statement, we will start a full-fledged investigation into the matter,†a senior police official had said.
An email query sent to a TVF spokesperson remained unanswered till the time of publishing this story.
Last month, an anonymous blog post by a woman calling herself ‘Indian Fowler’ alleged multiple instances of molestation and sexual harassment by Kumar over two years, before she quit her job last year. Soon after, many women came forward on social media, levelling similar charges against Kumar.
In a similar case last week, a former employee of news and infotainment website ScoopWhoop had accused co-founder Suparn Pandey of sexual harassment and assault, and filed a police complaint against him.
In February, Vayuz co-founder Pooja Chauhan alleged that investor Mahesh Murthy sent her a lewd message on Christmas. FrshDay.in founder Wamika Iyer had also levelled similar charges against Murthy.
