Trikona Group Hires McCook Of Calpers

Trikona Group, which focuses on investing in the Indian real estate and infrastructure business, has roped in Michael McCook as one of its three senior advisors. McCook is a former senior investment officer of real estate for the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), the largest US pension fund with a real estate portfolio of more than $ 20 billion.

He joins Arthur Mirante II (head of global client development and former president and CEO at Cushman & Wakefield) and Vinode Ramgopal (chairman and CEO of the Marco Polo Group)

McCook will advise the fund management division of the Trikona Group, and comes with over 20 years experience in the real estate industry. Before quitting CalPERS, he led the global real estate investments division at the pension fund.

He will provide strategic guidance as Trikona maintains its plans to invests $ 10 billion in India over the next decade through its institutional investment platform. McCook also sits on the board of other Trikona Group companies including Apodis Hospitality, which has been created recently as a hotel development and operating firm in India.

Earlier in April this year Trikona had appointed PS Rana, former chairman of Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), to lead the company's infrastructure and real estate projects in India.

Trikona Group co-founded by two New York-based NRIs, Rak Chugh and Ashish Kalra is currently managing over $1 billion in Indian infrastructure and real estate assets. It also operates a real estate fund listed at the AIM market of London Stock Exchange having raised £250 million in 2006.
