In the 24th episode of TC Show Off, a weekly show that provides startups a platform to showcase themselves, their business models, the core USP etc., MobApper's co-founder Nikhil Vishnu showcased how the startup helps in creating native mobile apps for WordPress websites in minutes.
MobApper creates mobile apps for iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry platforms without any coding. It also allows users to show ads in order to monetise their content.
“The target is to seamlessly integrate the app with the existing website by fetching content automatically,” said Vishnu. Talking about the opportunity in the space, he added, "Over 40 per cent of the total traffic of all websites comes from mobile devices today. According to Morgan Stanley, going forward more people will be using internet from mobile devices rather than a desktop."
The startup currently offers three packages ranging from $10 to $50 per month. While the $10 package offers apps for just one platform—iOS or Android—the $50 package offers the same for all four platforms—iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry.
However, according to Girish Shivani, director of YourNest Angel Fund, while the startup is addressing a very real pain point, the challenge is their platform itself. "They are integrated with a platform (WordPress) where lot of monetisation is not possible. It is a very low monetisation engagement platform. So until and unless they are able to look at other platforms, it would be difficult for them to get to a level of decent traction," said Shivani.
