Sudip Nandy To Join KKR-Controlled Aricent As CEO

30 September, 2008

Sudip Nandy, who headed Wipro’s string of pearls acquisition strategy, is joining Aricent Technologies as Chief Executive Oficer. VC Circle confirmed this information from its investment banking sources. Nandy quit earlier this month and today is his last day at Wipro.

Nandy will be the third top executive to leave Wipro in past few months and become CEO of a smaller IT company. Sudip Banerjee recently moved to L&T Infotech as CEO. Also P.R. Chandrasekar, the head of Wipro’s American operations, left to join Hexaware Technologies Ltd as CEO.

India & US-based communications software company Aricent has recently raised $60 million in new round of funding from Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts (KKR) and The Family Office. Aricent, which was known as Flextronics, was acquired by KKR for $900 million in the largest leveraged buyout in India in 2006. Nandy’s unit at Wipro, telecom and product engineering, contributes more than $1 billion of revenues to Wipro with more than 150 clients.

Is this a wise/good decision by Sudip? Aricent is a unstable company. Over the past 15 months a lot of senior level resignations have happend at Aricent. The entire mid-level in india have resigned. KKR is looking to sell Aricent and if the market was stable they would have accomplished that. What’s in it for Nandy?

why not.. Aricent is grabbing all the major telecom customers to its fold oflate and with Sudip at the helm of office it will be a icing on the cake for the days to come at Aricent.. Aricent will be leading the communications software industry..

I disagree to the fact that Aricent is unstable.Rumours are on the run regarding selling stakes.

Senior level resignations is a result of the board’s decision to cut down on the costs and they managed to do that without giving pink slips to engineers with meagre experience in the industry.

It is also commendable that Aricent has managed to slip through the financial crisis this year with no low-level chop on jobs.Same stability was ensured in the 2001 crisis too.

Ask their employees and they would say the same.
