SBI Holdings, FMO set up fund targeting financial services

A private equity fund, set up by Japan’s SBI Holdings, Inc. and Netherlands Development Finance Company (Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden N.V. or FMO), is looking at investment opportunities in India’s financial services sector. The fund, which is targeting a corpus of $80 million, will also focus on financial sector opportunities across emerging Asia. It has already raised commitments of $51 million towards a first close of $60 million. The fund will be managed by SBI Ven Capital (Singapore), the overseas venture capital arm of the financial services group SBI Holdings.
