RWL Healthworld Ltd that ran a pharmacy chain under the brand Religare Wellness has re-christened its business as Fortis Health World, according to a press release.

The privately held company owned by billionaire brothers Malvinder and Shivinder Singh—promoters of Fortis Healthcare—has an offline presence with around 100 retail stores across cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi and Gurgaon.

It also runs an e-commerce portal (www.fortishealthworld.com) that sells beauty, wellness and health-care products such as baby care products, face and skin care range, home and living utilities as well as diabetic remedies.

“Following the ongoing trend of the expansion of the digital platform, we are working closely with digital marketing agencies to effectively increase the scale of our operations online,” Rahul Chadha, CEO of Fortis Health World, said.

Fortis Health World operates in a highly fragmented pharmacy business dominated by millions of standalone chemists. Among the organised sector players the prominent names are Apollo Pharmacy, Wellness Forever, MedPlus and Guardian. MedPlus and Guardian are PE-backed ventures.

In the online world VC-backed HealthKart is the most well known property.
