Piramal Healthcare to buy US-based Decision Resources Group for $635M

08 June, 2012

One-and-a-half years after Ajay Piramal sold the formulations business of the group flagship Piramal Healthcare to US-based Abbott Laboratories in a multi-billion-dollar deal, he seems to be on an acquisition spree. On Wednesday, Piramal Healthcare Ltd said that it would be acquiring US-based database and consulting services provider Decision Resources Group (DRG) for Rs 3,400 crore ($635 million) in an all-cash deal. DRG is being acquired from private equity major Providence Equity Partners. Providence had acquired majority stake in Decision Resources from its previous PE owners Castanea Partners and Boston Ventures Management in May 2007.
