Chennai-headquartered OrangeScape, a cross-Cloud PaaS (Platform-as-a-service) provider, has raised $1 million from the Indian Angel Network. The capital raised will be largely used for business and product development.
As part of the deal, Sharad Sharma of IAN has joined OrangeScape’s board of directors.
The company builds business applications using a visual-style modelling interface in a 5GL environment. This is done through the OrangeScape Studio on browser. Applications developed using the OrangeScape platform can be deployed on various Cloud platforms (such as Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure, IBM Smart Cloud and Amazon EC2) and claim to provide scalability, administration and monitoring capabilities for a cost that suits you the most.
Talking to Techcircle.in, Mani Doraisamy, co-founder of OrangeScape, said, “Our focus will be to target specific, niche market. And the clients will be migrated from Lotus Notes to Cloud.”
Founded in 2003 by Suresh Sambandam and Mani Doraisamy, OrangeScape has operations in India, North America and Western Europe/UK.
A mechanical engineer from PSG College of Technology, Doraisamy had earlier worked with Myth Advertising and Selectica. Sambandam, an alumnus of University of Madras, had previously worked with Hewlett-Packard and Selectica.
The company currently employs 55 people across its India and the US offices. By the end of 2012, it intends to scale up the team strength to 70-80.
“Our focus will shift to Europe this year, where we have just started to acquire new clients. Until now, we only focused on India and the US,” added Mani.
OrangeScape also has a few partnerships for technical and marketing expansions. It has tied up with Wipro (for India and the US market), TCS (on the service and technology front, for the UK and the US market) and Cimtrek for Lotus Notes migration.
